Anita Porbeni practiced as a physician for over a decade and has over 20 years of medical and health systems expertise. After experiencing the serial losses of loved ones close to her, losing her home to fire and successful career transitions, she learned the importance of caring for herself well while navigating all the ups and downs life brings her way, especially as a full-time working widowed mom of three children. As a physician and mom who has walked through fire—literally and figuratively—she combines medical expertise with deep empathy to guide women toward healing their bodies, minds, and spirits so they can thrive after adversity. Anita lives in the small village of Dayton, New Jersey, and enjoys spending time with family.

My Story

In 2020, at the height of the global COVID-19 pandemic, I lost my husband, also a physician, to complications of cancer. Together, we had navigated his treatments, which included a clinical trial of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, all while raising our three children. Despite all the treatments, support, and prayers, we didn't get the outcome we had hoped for. He had lived only 18 months after being diagnosed. His illness and death rocked me to my core. I could not believe that in less than 2 years, my life would be so different. I was devastated and felt desperately alone after having also lost my mom suddenly 5 years earlier in a road traffic accident. I was overwhelmed, working full time, having difficulty sleeping, and being so stressed that I struggled to focus and remember important details.

After about a year, despite overwhelming support from family and friends, I finally realized that this was my new normal. I knew I couldn't go on living this high-stress life. I was scared I would die and leave my children as orphans. That woke me up. One of the things that helped me was the support of a friend I made immediately after I lost my husband; she was a widow as well as a working mother of three. She promised me I would survive and thrive as she had done. That was a powerful motivation to go on!

With my medical background, I knew that too much stress was bad and caused many health problems. I started researching reducing stress, sleeping better, and lifestyle changes to be my best possible self. I implemented these changes and noticed that I slept better, was less stressed, and felt more like myself again. People started complimenting me on how great I looked and asked for my secret and if I could support them.

Driven by a desire to serve, I found my calling in health and wellness coaching. My mission is to empower women like me—working moms facing life's major challenges such as loss, trauma, health issues, or career changes. I'm here to guide you towards a less stressful, more fulfilling life where you can prioritize your well-being, regain your confidence, and become the strong role model your family deserves. When I heard the diagnosis cancer, I was devastated. Yet, there was little time for grief. I needed to move from cancer crisis to cancer care immediately. I had doctors in place; Primary Care, Oncologist, and Surgeon. There was no doubt in my mind about their competence or care, but I needed more.
